About me

Who am I?

First off I’m a dad. Of the many ways I define myself, being a dad is the most fundamental. It is my core being.  I’m also an insulin-pumping type 2 diabetic of the somewhat uncommon MODY variety. I’m also on a journey to acquire a trained hypo alert dog which will be a common blog topic and factors into the name I chose for the blog. See How I Got Here Part 1 and Part 2 for the gory details.

I live in central Massachusetts and am employed as a software engineer. My passion of the moment is flying this crazy contraption called a powered paraglider. It’s the closest thing you can get to a jetpack and is insanely fun. You can expect to find some blog posts about this too.

Thanks for tuning in!

Dave, the one thing DAD owners never mention is that Labs shed a lot of fur, most of them, all the time. As an older woman who wants a DAD I have been searching for a trainer who will train a non or low shedding dog who will do as well at alerting as a Lab or other retriever (i., Golden). I found one person who sells puppies, for you to train, after she imprints BG scents on them at birth. Otherwise, not much luck finding a low-shedding dog. I am sure that the boat guy spends a lot of time cleaning his boat or dog fur!!!
